ANT 111 - Anthropology IAI Number GECC: S1900N 3 Credit Hour(s) 3 Lecture Hour(s) 0 Lab Hours(s) Anthropology examines the concept and characteristics of human culture, including the relationship between language and thought, the individual and society, and patterns of sexuality, marriage, and family organization in relation to the culture as a whole. These patterns of variation and adaptation that create biological and cultural diversity are studied through time (prehistory and history) and space (geographical place). This course is a general introduction to the discipline and the nature of humans and their development and relationship to the physical and social environment today and in the past. The course will survey the major subfields of anthropology: cultural anthropology, physical anthropology, archaeology, and linguistics.
