Logan Academy
is dedicated to helping you achieve your goals-whether you are working toward your GED®/High School Equivalency (HSE), improving your reading or math skills, learning English as a Second Language (ESL), or exploring new career opportunities. No matter how long you have been out of school, we are here to support your journey.
This program is designed for adults (16 years and older) who want to prepare for the GED® test. Free classes are offered at the College and in various community locations.
Our English as a Second Language (ESL) program helps adult learners improve their English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in a supportive and welcoming environment. ESL classes are designed to build confidence, strengthen communication skills for everyday life and work, and prepare students for continued education or career advancement.
In addition, individuals with Adult Basic Education (ABE) needs may receive simultaneous instruction and support to bridge into career and post-secondary (college) opportunities-earning industry-recognized credentials that make you more competitive and qualified in today’s workforce.

Literacy Program: Building Confidence Through Reading and Learning
The Literacy Program is a free, year-round opportunity designed to help adults improve their reading skills in a supportive and empowering environment. Open to individuals age 17 and older who are no longer enrolled in school, this program offers personalized support to help learners gain the confidence and skills they need to succeed.
Trained volunteers provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring for students enrolled in adult basic education courses and throughout the community. Tutoring takes place both on campus and in community locations throughout the College district, making it convenient and accessible.

Mary Logan High School
Mary Logan High School (MLHS) at John A. Logan College offers a vital alternative for area high school students seeking a path to graduation. The program provides both credit recovery options for students needing to make up coursework and a full-time option for those not thriving in a traditional school environment.
MLHS is a collaborative partnership between local high schools, John A. Logan College, and the Illinois State Board of Education. It serves students who have left school, are at risk of academic failure, or have experienced disciplinary or personal challenges that hindered their success in a conventional setting.
Students interested in an innovative path to high school completion must be between 16 and 21 years old for full-time enrollment, and at least 14 years old for credit recovery. All students must obtain permission from their high school district before enrolling.
The goal of MLHS is to re-engage students through compassion, consistency, and accountability-supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth as they work toward earning their high school diploma. In addition to diploma completion, students receive transition support into pathways such as dual credit, short-term certificates, gainful employment, and/or college enrollment.
